Muladhara Chakra - The Root
Muladhara Chakra is located at the base of the Spine, in between the genitals and the anus. Its Bija mantra is ‘Lam.’ If you meditate and you keep repeating the word ‘Lam’ you will notice the grace of life opening out to you, the vibration of ‘Lam’ reaching directly to your muladhara chakra. It is red in colour and this too can be visualised during meditation.
The Mudra (hand gesture) for meditation is to connect the thumb and index finger and you may be able to feel this energy travelling through your body. Over time you will feel the connection.
Muladhara Chakra is connected to grounding, independence and feelings of survival, for instance our basic human needs: food, water and shelter. When this chakra is flowing peacefully, life will be flowing peacefully. You will no doubt be sure of yourself and those around you. Paint your nails red, wear red clothing or underwear and see if you feel the difference.
Physically your legs will stand tall; you will walk with your feet firmly on the ground. You will be happy being you. A great way of grounding yourself is stomping your bare feet on the ground, connect with and feel the Earth’s energy.
Food for thought – try red coloured food, drink and fruits like red meat and eggs for protein and vegetables from the ground like potatoes, carrots and parsnips.
Try one or a few of these affirmations for a week and see if you notice anything...
- "I am safe"
- "I feel safe in this world"
- "I am connected with the universe"
- "Life flows gracefully with me"
- "I love my life"
- "I am all that I am, I am love"
